Vitrinen – A Zürich Lexicon

As part of the first year Course ‘Grundlagen der Geschichte und Theorie der Architektur I & II’ the Chair of History and Theory of Urban Design has invited students to unlock their (un)conscious experience of the urban environment. They were asked to explore the city of Zurich by looking at shopwindows, or Vitrinen, in their different expressions and settings, shaping the urban experience. Through drawing and writing, the students investigated the various strategies and means used interact with passersby and give glimpses into their interior in order to invite customers in.
