Unlocking the Zürich Commons / Land
Student Work
Enrico Berta, Yeshe Gao
HS 2022
This Fachsemester probed into Zürich’s ‘land commons’, and explored how collective forms of land use are associated with a variety of participatory practices and have served numerous aims, from food production to housing, commerce and recreation. Students actively used the tools and knowledge of the architect – drawing, modeling and writing – to reveal the role of land commons in the city, and how the history of Zurich’s land use helps to understand the social, political and ecological challenges of contemporary urban design.
Tutors: Tom Avermaete, Sebastiaan Loosen, Sanna Kattenbeck, Nicole de Lalouvière, Niloofar Rasooli.
