Public Stairs – A Zürich Lexicon
Student Work
First Year Bachelor Students
HS 2022 and FS 2023
As part of the first year Course ‘Grundlagen der Geschichte und Theorie der Architektur I & II’ the Chair of History and Theory of Urban Design has invited students to unlock their (un)conscious experience of the urban environment. They were asked to explore the city of Zurich by looking at public stairs, in their different shapes and sizes, following the undulating topography of the city, forming connections of higher and lower parts as well as how these stairs are part of the urban infrastructure.
