The historic house with the shop window is located on a busy main street in Schwamendingen. The house stands right next to the street, with only a wide sidewalk and parking lot separating it from the street. In front of and behind the house, the street is lined with stores, cafés and craft businesses. A little further on, it leads into a residential area.
The house in which the shop window is embedded dates back to the last century. The shop window is slightly recessed in the lower part of the building, while windows with shutters line the façade above. The façade is simple and undecorated, with only small capitals above some of the windows.
The shop window belongs to a medical office and is kept simple. About an arm’s length behind the window is a second window, a box window. Behind it, hidden from view, are presumably treatment rooms or a waiting room. There is only one object, a small figure called Nana, in the shop window.
The shop window has a beautiful sandstone jamb that extends to the base. Above it is the small capital, also made of sandstone.
A drop-arm awning was subsequently installed underneath. The window has an aluminum frame and the glass has no divisions.
