Blumen Oertig
The shop window is located on Schaffhauserstrasse, just a few minutes from Oerlikon train station. It houses the flower store ‘Blumen Oertig’ and is right next to a restaurant. The building forms the corner of an intersection and is located next to the streetcar stop ‘Zurich, Sternen Oerlikon’, which creates a lively atmosphere. Nevertheless, it is very suitable for shoppers as it offers a wide sidewalk.
There are four floors above the flower store, where offices are housed. The entrance of the store is located in the transition between the flat and the round facade. Each group of windows is divided by concrete columns, which visually creates several individual shop windows.
As shown in the drawing, the shop window combines flat and round surfaces. This allows visitors to walk along the store, but also almost around it. The high amount of glass strengthens the effect of exhibition. The store takes advantage of this to display their beautiful flowers.
Oerlikon is a district in the city of Zurich and has been significantly upgraded in recent decades from what was initially an industrial quarter. Today it is a modern area offering apartments and office space.
