Galerie Thalberg
This shopwindow of the gallery “Thalberg” is located at the border of Kreis 7 near the tram station “Kunsthaus” and belongs to a row of four similar looking shopwindows. The broad sidewalk and the parking spaces behind it put a comfortable distance between the building and the busy main street.
The shopwindow is situated on the ground floor of a five-story building inviting pedestrians to take a look at the current art exhibition while passing by. What stands out is the curved glass towards the entrance. This rounded corner leads visitors to the entrance door, which is caved inside the building façade. Beneath this canopy there’s a second door for the apartment complex above the gallery. There’s a white column behind the glass, which makes the big window front statically possible.
At the time analyzing there was only one painting and the column on the raised floor. Other paintings were visible distributed throughout the room behind. The simplicity of the shopwindow brings the focus to the art on display. The art changes with the different temporary exhibitions. The façade is cladded in cream-colored natural stone panels.
Above the shopwindow the sun blinds and the plastic behind it form somewhat of a border splitting the façade into two halves. In the top half the stone panels look smoother and brighter. Around the window there’s a grey metal frame. The door is also held in this glass-metal combination but with a red doorframe which gives the shopwindow a pop of color just like the art on display.
