Nansenstrasse 5

C&A

This shop window is situated at a bustling intersection near Zürich Oerlikon train station. It comprises an entire window front resulting from a diagonally cut corner, presenting a symmetrical appearance. Behind this front, three floors house a clothing store, with two additional floors serving other purposes situated above.

Each side of the ground floor features a spacious shop window, approximately three meters in height to accommodate humansized mannequins. These flanking windows consist solely of an outer frame without further subdivisions. A generously sized sliding entrance door, set back inward, is centrally positioned between these two flanking windows. A transparent canopy extends from the facade directly above the ground floor, offering weather protection for pedestrians passing by.

Above the central entrance, an extension resembling a bay window protrudes from the building, rising two stories. This extension also serves as weather protection for the entrance and is primarily constructed with vertical and secondary horizontal frames. The frames on the bay window create a symmetrical pattern but are arranged irregularly. Metal fills the frames up to a meter in height on both floors, transitioning to glass above for displaying objects to the public.

Next to the bay window, tall windows on each flank are similarly constructed but feature frosted glass, serving primarily for lighting rather than display purposes. The remainder of the facade is tiled with horizontal rectangles.
