Piz Buch und Berg
The «Piz Buch und Berg» bookstore is a 10-minute walk from the train station Zurich and one minute away from the Stauffacher tram station.
The shop is located on a busy side street and is surrounded by various restaurants in the immediate area. However, if you continue walking along Müllerstrasse, you will come across more shops. The bookstore can be reached via two steps built between the shop windows. The entrance door to the shop is built inwards and is therefore not on the same facade level as the large shop windows.
In the store, the entrance door is visible in its protruding glass facade. The books in the shop window are directly accessible. The large rectangular windows allow the room to have a lot of light, making the shop appear much larger inside.
The shop window consists of a glass facade with a metal frame. The glass panels are arranged in a rectangular shape and provide a direct view of the store. The frame is painted in a very dark blue/gray tone. The small windows, which are arranged in a row at the top, can be opened by tilting them inwards.
By climbing the two steps to the entrance, the store is on a higher level than the sidewalk. This means that the books on the shop windows are presented at the level of the view of the passerby. The large shop windows and the inwards-facing entrance area make the two narrow shop window areas even more effective for presenting other books.
