Globegarden
If you walk past the building at Limmattalstrasse 223, you will be greeted by colorfully decorated shop windows, with a hidden kindergarten named “Globegarden”.
In front of the building, a busy street buzzes with cars and buses, while a bustling bus stop sits right outside the shop windows. The kindergarten is situated on the first floor, featuring expansive shop windows along the left side, and facing the street. It can be accessed through the glass door positioned along the left wall of the building, seamlessly blending in with the shop windows.
There are apartments above the kindergarten, which are accessible through a metall door found in the front of the house. The metal door divides the shopwindows in two parts. Directly above the first floor there is a metal canopy over the entire building.
The first floor is mainly glass, with narrow plastered and light pink-painted wall elements between the shop windows for structural stability. Gray tiles cover both the base and the wall surrounding the entry of the apartment for a unified aesthetic.
The large openings allow the children to experience the outside world inside. All windows are painted with children drawings. They give the street a welcoming aura and illuminate it. At the same time, they provide the children privacy, as the windows cannot be fully seen through from the outside.
