Buchhandlung Nievergelt
The shopwindow presented is located near the market square at Franklinstrasse 23 in 8050 Oerlikon, Zurich Nord-District 11. Not far from another bookstore and between the train station Oerlikon Nord and a tram stop.
In front of the entrance are parallel parking slots. The shop is set in a corner building. To the left is an alley leading to the court yard, and on the right side next to the window is the entrance to,Nord Süd Verlag. The street and its surroundings are filled with small to medium-sized stores and casual restaurants. The buildings across the street were built in the 19th century and are protected monuments of Zurich.
The left side of the shopwindows stands at a non- orthogonal angle to the door, creating visual tension and leading you inside. The display tables run through the whole perimeter of the store and sometimes become a sitting opportunity. Through the windows, you can see a large part of the store.
It takes up almost the whole space on the ground floor. A canopy visually separates the store from the rest of the house, which gives a solid impression, only interrupted by smaller windows. It looks rather heavy above the translucent and airy ground floor with the shopwindow. The four-story building the store is in was built in 1928 and is a good example of the New Objectivity, characterized by high functionality, simplicity, and clear geometrical figures.
