Englischviertelstrasse 4
This shop window belongs to a psychoanalytic practice in the center of Hottingen, one of the many neighborhoods in Kreis 7. The shop window faces onto Englischviertelstrasse, a quiet one-way street leading away from the busy Hottingerplatz.
At the back of the window space, there is a set of curtains, which the elderly woman who runs the practice keeps closed for privacy reasons. As a result, only the space within the shop window is visible.
The owner uses it to display flowers in different sized pots. The shop window is situated in the bottom right of an old apartment building. It is symmetrically divided into two sections on the left and right, separated by the central entrance door to the practice, which is set back from the main façade and accessed via two small stone steps and a shallow doorsill.
The display space for each shop window half is enclosed on three sides with panes of glass. The window frames are made out of wood and painted white, while the base and stairs are beige-grey stone.
The shop window is bordered by vertical pi- lasters and a horizontal cornice above, all made of wood and painted pale blue.
The rest of the building has a light beige façade with multiple windows fitted with dark blue shutters, a main entrance door in dark wood and a roof with an underside in the same color as the blue used on the shop window.
