Partydekomiet
This shopwindow can be found close to the Lindenplatz in Altstetten at the Badenerstrasse. It is located at the corner of a residential block with other stores and shopwindows nearby.
The entrance part of the shop faces the street, however, is separated by the rather wide sidewalk planted with a few trees. The two windows next to the entrance give space to display the products and interact with the pedestrians passing by. The other three shopwindows are located around the corner in a parking and entrance area for the building’s residents. They are only visible from one side of the main street, however, with their metal frames slightly standing out of the facade they draw attention to the presented objects.
The shopwindows are part of a showroom for an online business that sells party accessories. The store is, therefore, not accessible for walk-in customers, not illuminated and partially hidden by curtains that separate the windows from the interior. In contrast, the shop windows are used to display a wide variety of decorative objects using the full depth of the windowsill.
The two sides of the store show different windows concerning materiality and placement. The three separate windows on the side of the building are almost squares with a protruding metal frame that is surrounded by the tiles of the facade. At the front, the wide rectangular windows are vertically framed by the same tiles, but horizontally by two different metallic surfaces.
The shop windows located in the ground floor of a typical residential building form focal points amidst the otherwise ordinary facade.
