This is an entrance of a 5-story high residential building located on Lavaterstrasse 97. The building is only about 20m x 20m in plan. The ground floor is semi-underground on west side. Therefore, the first floor is only slightly higher than the street level. In order to accommodate the entrances of ground floor and first floor, both entrances are combined. Through the steep, narrow stairs on two sides of the platform, residents can reach the door of their flat
on first floor. The yellow plastered façade is decorated in a simple way. The openings are glazed and equipped with jalousie. The door inside the 3m high opening
is made of plastic and glazed by two glass panels. Beneath the platform, the stairs in the middle connect the exterior space on ground floor to the two doors, which are also equipped with glass and jalousie. Like the façade, the staircase is built in a simple way. The concrete part is exposed but in contrast, the handrail has curly railing.
Lavaterstrasse is a quiet, narrow street with much green space on both sides. The staircase is not directly connected to the street, but to a small green garden which is surrounded by fences . Through a small gate one can reach the garden.
According to the ornamentality and materiality of the entrance, it is probably used as the back door of both flats. The staircase is surrounded by grass and bushes. The proportion
and size of the stairs indicate that it is not the main entrance. However, it offers not only view and but also access into the green back- yard.
