This urban entrance is located along a street in a quiet neighborhood in the Kreis 2. My attention was caught by this house because of the unique brick facade that it had on the entrance side. The bricks are relatively small which makes the entrance suddenly seem larger than it really is. The building is also made of larger stones that form the base of the house up to a height of 1.55 meters.
The stairs are made of stones and run along the brick facade of the building, creating an interesting interaction between different materials. They are bounded by metal fences on the left side. Another special feature of the stairs is that they do not come directly to the door, nor do they leave directly from the street.
On the street side, they are the continuation of a setback, which makes them invisible from a certain angle. On the house side the stairs end in a porch which gives direct access to the front door.
The front door is wooden with two windows at the height of a human bust, also decorated with wooden details on the lower level. It is protected from the rain by a small canopy with a tile pattern on top. The rain falling from this canopy lands directly on the stairs.
On the right side of the stairs there is a sign, with the street’s name and below the different businesses located in the building.
