The chosen entrance is located in Wipkingen, an urban neighborhood in Zürich’s Kreis 10. The house where the entrance is located is a five-story dwelling house. It lies right next to a Place called Röschibachplatz and the entrance is placed on the southside of the building. The entrance is half a meter offset the ground. This difference immediately gives the entrance a more private look and appearance.
The entrance lies on the opening of a courtyard which is formed by four other houses. The ground floor is used for the public and contains a thrift shop for children clothing. The ground floors in the nearby buildings are publicly as well. They offer a bakery, some coffees and grocery stores.
If you go up the stairs, which are made of light-yellow tiles, you enter the building through a yellow wooden door. On the right, the staircase will lead you to the upper floors. In this little foyer are three more doors, one for the cellar and two which lead straight into the backstage area of the thriftshop.
I chose this specific entrance because I have a personal relation to it. It is the entrance to my first student appartement in Zürich. I chose it because I used this door for more than a Semester and realized, how little I knew it. So I used this chance to take a better look at it and explore its details. One could call it my tribute to my entrance, which always had an open door for me.
