The main entrance of the 6-storey building at Kreuzstrasse 5 is located on the south side of the office and workshop building.
The entrance is set back a few metres into the building and thus offers not only a clear separation of inside and outside, but also protection from weather. Visually, it fits into the order of the entire house facade, as the entrance is as sleek and straightforward as the entire building itself. The upper edge of the entrance opening is aligned with the lowest row of windows and a unified overall picture emerges. The entrance is quite inconspicuous for many outsiders and does not invite them to enter.
The material used to clad the walls is the same in the entrance area as well as on the entire outer shell. The ventilated facades are made of sandstone slabs in a grey/greenish colour. All other surrounding buildings are also built of sandstone, however earlier in time than this building and are built in a different architectural style.
Due to the complete glazing of the entrance, one sees from the outside into a smaller vestibule, from which one can reach the various rooms in the building. The simplicity of the exterior facade and the entrance is reflected in the interior design of the vestibule.
The interior of the building is accessed through an electrically opening double sliding glass door with an anthracite-coloured metal framing. Since the entrance is level with the floor, people with physical disabilities can also enter the building through this entrance.
