Gablerstrasse 15

Project by Mathieu Perey

The majestic Villa Wesendonck is situated on a green hill, which can be reached by several winding, paved roads. It is a very picturesque location. Two rather small columns surrounded by bushes and trees suggest at first sight the entrance to a magnificent villa. This path between the gate and the door to the villa is anything but straight and direct. Around two corners of the house and under two more pergolas, reaching Villa Wesendonck is an extraordinary experience. It gives one a mystical and magical feeling of always being somewhere between the building and the green nature.

It is a beautiful building with a magnificent entrance and a beautiful green garden, which today serves as a museum of non-European arts. It is also the place where Richard Wagner wrote his famous opera Tristan and Isolde in the 19th century. The atmosphere is still in the air.
