Europaallee 40

Project by Tassilo Meyer

The modern building complex is located in Kreis 4. It is partly used for living but mainly as an office.

The façade is made from rectangular, smooth grey natural stone and red sandstone. This is a big contrast to the rough floor on the outside with its rounded stones. On the first floor every window is enclosed with a metal column. In addition, the windows are centered and split in three boxes with a metal ‘T’. The horizontal lines are about 2/3 above the ground and the vertical lines are splitting the window in half. On the second floor the windows are smaller in comparison and pushed either left or right in its frame. At the side of these window there are small metal columns and next to that glass bricks. Thus, the structure of the façade is visually broken up which helps to create a unique and modern look.

This specific entrance is only used to get access to the flats. The double-leaf entrance door uses the same metal frame as the other windows, enclosing a glass sheet on both doors. Due to that, the threshold is embedded seamlessly into the façade without generating to much attention. In the middle is a long vertical door handle made of copper. Above the door is a canopy made from the same metal used on the façade. Furthermore, there is a window over the canopy including a sun blind. On top, there are three red sandstones closing the ‘box’ of this entrance.
