This entrance is in Surber area in district 4 of Zürich where
the entrance at Ernastrasse 28 is. A sharp cut on the end of Ernastrasse brings a new alley in to the neighborhood. This creates a pleasant and intimate residential area. The visible entrance is at the beginning of the cut and acts as access for apartments above the stores. The small shops improve the quality of the neighborhood.
The entrance door is set back to the inside of the house to separate the street and living from each other. This also has a protective function. The door is made of a metal frame and a glass. The entry is surrounded with tiles that have different green, brown and beige tones. The tiles are concave in shape which makes
the entry unique. They frame the entrance and have also been placed along the road. The walls of the house are not only gray but have a similar surface to the framing of the entrance. However,
the structure is much more discreet but leads to a harmonious transition between the tiles and the wall.
An entrance creates a connection between the inside and
the outside. The entry at Ernastrasse 28 is different from other entrances because it is framed by unique tiles, and they also continue along the street. In this way it is clear to see a separation of the house and the street.
