Brown-Boveri-Strasse 4a

Project by Brown-Boveri-Strasse 4a

This entrance is located in between the industrial area of Oerlikon and a park of the nearby school. The street, which passes by the entrance, is mainly used by trucks. In the neighbourhood, there are pedestrians on their way to the surrounding office buildings.

Between the street and the entrance, there is a grass strip, a sidewalk and three steps. These elements separate the public activity from the more private residential building.

The dominant materials that are used are different kinds of stone and glass patterns at the entrance and the façade. The entrance is characterised by the many glass bricks on the left wall. In combination with the stone floor and the façade, which both have a similar pattern, the entrance expresses a plain and strict design.

As another aspect of creating privacy the entrance is set back from the façade by three meters. Behind the glass wall next to the door, there is a lobby space with another door visible before the completely private staircase starts.
