Walking down the Augustinerstrasse in the Old Town of Zürich a green door sticks out. But nonetheless some may pass it, looking for a more exciting door. Continuing the walk on Augustinergasse, the viewer might get confused since the exact same green door frames the entrance to a small concept store.
The doorway is surrounded by two glass windows which reach from the height of the ceiling down to approximately fifty centimeters above the ground and let one peek into the shop before entering. The door has a small built-in window and is set back from the building facade by a one-meter deep olive green frame. The frame that girds the portal is roofed under a canopy which seems traditional because of its cornice, but is still simplistic at the same time. The glass opening in the entrance is embossed by vertical grooves and four outstanding uprights. The entrance is mostly dark green but the bottom half, a meter below the two windows, which are on the same level as the facade, is made out of concrete. This element allows a more pleasant transition from the elements that are perpendicular to the floor to the cobblestones on the street, due to its attenuation of the contrast between the colors.
