Zeunerstrasse / Kyburgstrasse

Project by Maurus Wirth

The building Zeunerstrasse 11 is to be found at the intersection of Zeunerstrasse and Kyburgstrasse in Zürich Wipkingen, district 10. It is set in the center of the district Wipkingen, an attractive area close to the train station Wipkingen, next to the Landenbergpark and quite close to the Limmat. The building is part of a perimeter block development, typical for the historical urban development strategy of the 19th century, when housing was built for the proletariat in the suburbs of Zürich, by housing cooperatives. Today the area has become a popular and rather expensive place to live. Gentrification is transforming the demographics of the district Wipkingen.

Zeunerstrasse 11 is built as a massive construction. The facade of the ground floor is articulated with large stone slabs.
In the higher floors the facade is made out of clapboard, a typical facade style for Wipkingen. The buildings face towards the street is also defined by its balconies and the decorative window ornaments. Parkings spots can be found in the front of the building. The build- ing still is a residential house today. It also holds spaces for offices.
