The form of this corner appears indeed unconventionally as it is literally elevated and extruded in the third dimension setting back the window pane of the building. At the same time the upper floors expand and intrude into the space of the street and the sidewalk themselves having a decomposing effect in vertical manner on the perceived facade. Additionally the window front being rounded off gives the sensation of the need to remove the clear structure of the street corner. In contrast the upper floors keep to a strong geometry with straight and emphasized lines towards the corner.
But again the materiality of the volume is used to disturb the creation of a defined corner as also in these floors the windows are deliberately draped around it. Similarly the wide pavement is designed in order to set back and seperate the part in use as a terrace from the rest of the sidewalk. This effect is achieved as it is made of articulated cobblestone light in colour which constrasts the darker tar as well as the formulation of a frame with larger paving stone.
Architecturally the building defining the corner breaks with the traditional style of its neighbours being more modern in execution. There are still elements from the context which are implemented in the design such as the structure in the facade by clear horizontal lines or the colour palette applied.
