Höschgasse / Arbenzstrasse

Project by Jakob Schaefermeyer

A red plastered house from the construction period 1910-1919 adorns the streetcorner at the Höschgasse 81. It is at right angles to Höschgasse and Arbenzstrasse.

A round bay window bears on the street corner above a second hand shop. Its trapezoidal shape takes the austerity of the corner and transforms it into a rounded form. Such a bay window is also on the right side. However, this is connected to the adjoining balconies which enclose it and thus make it part of the facade. What is special about the house is its red color, which is further enhanced by green shutters and verdigris on the copper roof of the bay window. The 5-story house also has a very special charm due to small balconies with a fine metal railing which can be found in various houses nearby. With small cantilevers, both around the windows and in the facade in general, the house looks lively in the sun.
