Dammstrasse / Röschibachstrasse

Project by Lucas Steurer

This is the northern corner of the ‘Bahnhof Wipkingen’ which is a free standing building. The building is four stories high on its railway facing side and three stories high on the other side facing the town square ‘Röschibachplatz’. Also on this side there is a small tower in the northern corner. The tower is only one storie higher then the rest of the building but not higher then the pitched roof.

The original building was built in 1932 and was one storie shorter. In 2010 it was sold and renovated after it was in vacancy for some time. To the residents delight the new building looks almost indentical to the old one.

Now the building is home to a bakery on the ground floor facing the square and appartments in the upper stories. There is also a cash dispencer and on the railway facing side a community/ youth centre.

The ‘Röschibachplatz’ is probably the most visited town square in Wipkingen. Many people come by every day on their way to work, walking to the trainstation but also spending their free time on the square. But they never forget the time because of the clock on the tower of ‘Bahnhof Wipkingen’.
