The train station Tiefenbrunnen is located on the south-east end of Zürich’s Kreis 8/Seefeld. The building is separated by the traffic loaded Seestrasse towards the lake and by the train rails towards the Zürichberg. With its location on the south end of Zürich, this train station is essential for commuters from the whole Goldküste (meaning the east side of the Zürich Lake). These circumstances give the selected street corner among other things it’s importance for the Kreis 8 and Zürich.
The Corner is partly covered by a roofing made out of metal, which as well is accessible on top. It is held by four metal columns which line up towards the train rails. The materiality of the roofing contrasts the cut stone, which decorates the edge of the corner. Right next to the clolumns the pedestrian underpass leads up with a staircase made out of stone.
With its location right between the staircase leading to the platforms and the bus station the corner is being passed by hundreds of commuters every day.
This corner at the train station Tiefenbrunnen defines itself with its variety of functions for the individuals using it, ranging from a meeting point to a stepover and even to a place to hang out.
