Bahnhofstrasse / Kuttelgasse

Project by Alina Ampilogova

In 1965, architect Carl Lippert built a light shiny stone building for Bucherer on Bahnhofstrasse. The building heads a small perimeter block on the corner of Bahnhofstrasse and the historic Kuttelgasse. In 2015, the renovation of the Bucherer flagship store began. The Office Haratori and Office Winhov project was recommended for further development based on the results of

a competitive study. The project was adopted together with the order of the supporting structure. In addition, oriels were added on Bahnhofstrasse and Kuttelgasse, as well as the vitrines into the Augustinergasse. The Bucherer building is great for the Bahnhofstrasse shopping area, but also individual.

At the corner, the elements develop into bay windows, orientating the building towards the Bahnhofstrasse. The plinth is employed for typical shop windows. It is constructed of bronze elements with decorative patterning.

Bahnhofstrasse is dominated to the east by small and varied buildings, modern structures. Thanks to the marble in the relief of the facade, you can see the play of subtle refractions of light and fine shades and reflections. Marble and bronze on the façade transport an overall feeling of luxury into the public space. The peculiarity of the building in bright natural stone is important to the character of the area.
