The building on Winterthurerstrasse 454 is a plastered masonry building of three stories. On the ground floor, two large windows are set in to the left and right of the front door, offering a view into a hairdresser. On the first floor, above the front door, a bay window stands out from the facade. This bay window has a ground shape of a half octagon. On the front side of the bay, as well as to its left and right, there are narrow windows. One floor up, on the second floor, a balcony sits on top of the bay .The balcony door is similar to the rest of the windows and a curved, wrought-iron railing encloses the balcony. This balcony is the only balcony on the entire front of the house. While the shop windows on the ground floor are large windows without shutters, the windows on the two floors above are smaller and have hinged shutters.
The balcony does not offer much space. Presumably the balcony is rarely or never used. The building faces north and is located on a main road directly in front of a bus stop. The balcony is therefore directly exposed to the public. Sitting on that balcony must feel like being presented on a pedestal since the balcony is the only eye-catching object on the entire building. The balcony railing does not provide any privacy protection. The two buildings to the left and right are very similar to this building. One also has a bay window and both have small balconies with wrought iron railings. It is not known if the other balconies are used or not.
