The building is located in the district 2 of the city of Zurich on the moat, which is part of a baroque fortification. The residence is a small villa surrounded by a large complex of buildings. The front side with the balcony are facing the river. The special feature of
the building is the bay window, which is placed on the 2nd floor and protrudes from the façade. It also represents the connection between the house and the balconies. There are two small balconies on each side, which can be accessed from the bay window. This symmetry gives the façade its uniqueness and character.
Considering that the balconies are very small, they cannot be used as a living space. At most, drinking a coffee and enjoying the beautiful view of the greenery and the river. But despite the size, they are intended only for private use and not as a public appearance, due to the fact that they are neither centrally located nor highly frequented.
The older building was renovated and the exterior was plastered in white and light grey. The window jambs are made of sand-lime brick and the wooden shutters were painted blue. The balcony railing, decorated with scrolls, is made of black wrought iron and visually enhances the façade. The Schanzengraben is a popular oasis and pedestrian promenade in the middle of the city. It is also called the Venetian canal.
